Bone Room = Awesomeness!

Picture a store dedicated with all things dead and you've got the Bone Room. It's actually very cool. You can find every type of animal preserved in every type of way. If you are in the market for a freeze dried rat, they've got them. How handy is that!? They also have all kinds of real as well as replica human bones. Below is me hanging around with the other people that didn't escape from the store before it closed on the night they were doing a bone cleaning class. Zoinks!

I love the preserved and pinned butterflies and insects. They way they're displayed is such an art form. I think they sell them unpinned and undisplayed too which is great if you want to practice. I thought all the reproduction Australopithecine skulls were particularly cool but didn't retain the ability to identify each of them. I really loved my Physical Anthropology classes in college.

One of the best things about the Bone Room is the fact that they give classes each week on subjects like bone cleaning, taxidermy, insect preserving, etc. We haven't been to a class just yet, but it's on the list of must do's.

If you're ever in North Berkeley, be sure to stop by and check it out. I'm sure you'll see something new.
